This volume belongs to an integrated series of studies of Winchester’s archaeology, largely concerned with investigations in the years 1972–86. Published here, is a large collection of Roman pottery which comes from the northern suburb of the town of Venta Belgarum and from its extensive cemeteries. There are groups of material from all parts of the Roman era, between the mid–late 1st century AD and the late 4th century. The sites themselves have already been published in companion volumes in the Winchester Museums Service (WMS) series.
